Privacy Policy
LessThanTruckload.com is a service of AW Internet Inc., a New Jersey corporation ("we," "us," or "our"). We operate a free freight-class calculator, educational guides, and a lead-generation service for LTL shippers. LessThanTruckload.com is not a freight broker or carrier and does not arrange transportation; we connect shippers with independent, licensed brokers. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and — importantly — how the information you submit is shared with brokers.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Quote requests: your name, company, work email, phone number (optional), origin and destination ZIP codes, shipment weight, monthly shipment volume, and commodity type.
- Waitlist sign-ups (shipper or broker): your email address and, optionally, your company name.
- Correspondence: information you include when you email us.
- Free tools (calculator, invoice audit, rate tools): the shipment details you enter — such as origin and destination, weight, freight class, accessorial charges, carrier, and the rates you were charged. We use these to give you your result and, in anonymized and aggregated form, to build freight rate benchmarks (see Terms and "How we anonymize shipment data" below). We collect your email only if you opt into rate alerts or ask us to email a copy of your result.
Information collected automatically: when you visit the site we use Google Analytics 4, which collects standard analytics data such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and referring pages, using cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use your information
- To match shippers with freight brokers and deliver the quote-request service.
- To send service-related and marketing emails (for example, your results and welcome sequences); you can opt out at any time.
- To operate, secure, and improve the site and understand how it is used.
- To process broker payments and billing (when broker accounts are active).
- To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To build anonymized, aggregated freight rate benchmarks and indices from shipment details — never from information that identifies you (see "How we anonymize shipment data" below and the Terms).
3. How we share your information
With freight brokers (the core of our service). When you submit a quote request, we share the details you provide — your name, company, contact information, and shipment details — with a limited number of independent, licensed freight brokers (typically up to three) so they can contact you directly with competing quotes. These brokers are separate businesses; once we share your information with them, their use of it is governed by their own privacy practices. If you do not want your information shared with brokers, do not submit the quote form.
With service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Google — Google Analytics (usage analytics) and Google Sheets (secure storage of submissions).
- MailerLite — email list management and marketing/welcome emails.
- Brevo — transactional email (such as lead notifications).
- Stripe — payment processing for broker billing; card details are handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
For legal reasons or business transfers — to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not otherwise sell your personal information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing. Our sharing of quote-request details with brokers may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some state laws — see your rights below.
4. How we anonymize shipment data
Before any shipment detail enters our benchmark dataset, we strip all identifying fields — your name, company, contact information, and full address — and reduce locations to 3-digit ZIP regions. The benchmark dataset contains no personal information and is not linked back to you. We publish a benchmark for a given lane and freight class only when we have enough separate data points that no individual shipment can be inferred from it. 5. Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics cookies to measure traffic and usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on. We honor browser "Global Privacy Control" signals where required.
6. Marketing emails
If you join a list or submit a request, we may send you related emails. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time without affecting any quote request already in progress.
7. Data retention
We keep the information you submit for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal and record-keeping requirements, and resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete your information at any time (see contact below). Note that once a quote request has been shared with a broker, we cannot delete it from that broker's records.
Anonymized rate data. Once shipment details have been anonymized and aggregated into our benchmark dataset, that data is retained indefinitely as part of our benchmark products. Your contact information is retained only while you are subscribed and is deleted on request.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to opt out of marketing, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise any right — including "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" — email us at hello@lessthantruckload.com. We will verify and respond as required by law.
Note: because our benchmark data is anonymized and aggregated and cannot be tied back to you, it cannot be individually identified or withdrawn once it has been aggregated.
9. Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's privacy
The site is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Third-party links
The site may link to third-party websites (including brokers' sites). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; review their policies before providing information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
